Infographic: CA Green Economy
In September of 2006 Gov. Schwarzenegger signed AB 32 into law, which was an aggressive and forward thinking climate bill. Over the past several years it’s not only cleaned up the state but combined with the federal stimulus bill President Obama signed in 2009 it has created a lot of jobs too.
One of the keys to California’s future is definitely creating a robust green economy here and driving innovation. EDF has a great infographic they’ve created showing the impact of those jobs on the state. I don’t know if they’ve done this for other states, but they should.

This is particularly relevant as we move into the November 2010 election in California. We’ve got something on the ballot this cycle cleverly titled Proposition 23, which would basically suspend everything put into place by AB 32 in 2006. It’s being funded almost solely by out of state oil interests like Valero and Tesoro.
These companies don’t care about the progress California has made over the last 4 years toward a new green economy, they just want to protect and increase their profit margins. And this infographic does a great job of showing exactly what they’d be destroying.
Also, check out the campaign to stop Proposition 23 here.
